Exodus Reflections

Exodus 30:11-16 ~ the census tax was so that there be no plague when you number the people

This potentially sheds a lot of light on the plague that came on Israel when David did the census (end of 2 Samuel; 1 Chron).

Moses wrote:

  • Exod 17:14
  • Exod 24:4
  • (Exod 24:12; 31:18; 34:1 – God wrote, handed to Moses)
  • Exod 34:27

Exod 33:11
Thus the Lord used to speak to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend. When Moses turned again into the camp, his assistant Joshua the son of Nun, a young man, would not depart from the tent.

To encourage us as we lean into pursuing our first love and his precious presence

Exodus 34:27-28 – this is a glimpse of heaven. Not quite there, but is on the highest point of earth (a mountain), which is sometimes a place God meets with people in Scripture (almost like a suburb of heaven, as one commentator put it).

Here he is totally sustained by Gods presence even though he doesn’t eat or drink 40 days! Imagine being so taken up with God that you don’t need food or water
