Lesson 1A – Your Story
If you know Christ, you have a story.
- Acts 17:26-27 – God has placed you in a specific time and place
- Mark 5:18-20 – “Go home to your friends, and tell them…”
- John 4:28-30, 39 – she told her community; many believed
- Acts 21:40-22:21 – Paul shared:
- His life before encountering Christ
- His encounter of Christ
- His life with Christ
- Time: 3-5 min.
Lesson 1B: God’s Good News Message
- 2 Cor. 5:17-21 – Christians have been entrusted with the message of reconciliation
- Romans 5:10
- Colossians 1:21-23
- Mark 16:15 – Christians have been commanded to preach the gospel
- 1 Cor. 15:1-4 – Christians have been entrusted with the gospel
- The Gospel (means “Good News”) = The Message of Reconciliation
- 1 Cor. 15:1-4; 2 Cor. 5:17-21 – The Gospel =
- We sinned against God, and are in active rebellion against Him/His holy standard (e.g. Exodus 20; Matt 5:21-22, 27-28).
- We deserve God’s punishment for sin/rebellion.
- Jesus died in our place–as a substitute–taking on God’s punishment of sin
- All who choose to repent and believe this have been forgiven of sin (1 John 1:9)
- (for deeper understanding of the gospel: study Romans 1-8; see video [50 min.])
