Things Which Ought To Be Better Known About The Resurrection Of Jesus (Peter Williams)

As we continue thinking about Jesus resurrecting, I wanted to send an excellent teaching on the subject that was recorded years ago, but it still is powerful, in my humble opinion:

  1. This guy is pretty good for a whole lot of stuff, but I do disagree with his 33AD date for the crucifixion as I have been persuaded more and more that the 30AD date is more in line with John’s account that the beginning of His ministry began in the 46th year of Herod’s temple building which was began in 20BC.
Also Luke telling us that Jesus was about 30 years of age at the beginning does not fit with 34-35 years of age; his birth being 4-5 BC makes his ministry in 26AD ending in 30AD the secondary date he gives as a potential crucifixion a better date for the crucifixion.
I definitely agree that John’s Gospel gives us the 3 1/2 year time frame for Jesus ministry, but think the crucifixion was probably on a Thursday. There being a high holy Sabbath as well as the usual Saturday Sabbath. He kind of squeaks in a little fudge factor in giving a 26-36AD window and a 14-15 Nisan date for Passover when it seems to be clear to me from scripture that it was on the 14th of the month– period. This would move the date to Thursday instead of Friday as well, which I’ve read in a few different articles over the years.
