Parents: Train Your Children

According to Scripture, the primary responsibility to instruct children in the ways of life, wisdom, and godliness falls on the parents. Consider with the Lord how to apply this to your life, but I want to present to you some of what Scripture teaches on this:

Hear, my son, your father’s instruction, and forsake not your mother’s teaching,

Prov. 1:8

My son, keep your father’s commandment, and forsake not your mother’s teaching.

Prov. 6:20

Listen to your father who gave you life, and do not despise your mother when she is old.

Buy truth, and do not sell it; buy wisdom, instruction, and understanding.

The father of the righteous will greatly rejoice; he who fathers a wise son will be glad in him.

Let your father and mother be glad; let her who bore you rejoice.

Prov. 23:22-25

The eye that mocks a father and scorns to obey a mother will be picked out by the ravens of the valley and eaten by the vultures.

Prov. 30:17

Only take care, and keep your soul diligently, lest you forget the things that your eyes have seen, and lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life. Make them known to your children and your children’s children

Deut. 4:9

You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.

Deut. 6:7

You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.

Deut. 11:19

he said to them, ‘Take to heart all the words by which I am warning you today, that you may command them to your children, that they may be careful to do all the words of this law.’

Deut. 32:46
