How can sinful people approach God?

Leviticus 16:3 – High Priest must bring blood	Hebrews 9:11-12
Leviticus 16:4 – must be clean Had to wear linen, because it did not allow sweat on their body (see Ezekiel 44:17-18). Sweat is directly related to the curse of sin (see Genesis 3:19). Therefore, figuratively speaking, they had to be free from the effects of the curse.	2 Corinthians 5:20-21; 1 Peter 2:21-22
Leviticus 16:6-16 – blood was brought into holy place for the sake of all sins	Hebrews 9:11-14, 23-26

Israel was completely cleansed of sin, all because of the labor and blood offered by the high priest. They never saw the transaction take place, and only knew that God accepted this sacrifice because the high priest returned alive.	1 Corinthians 15:1-4,17; Hebrews 9:23-26
